Breaking Up is Hard to Do by Tia (NC-17)
Hi, everyone! This month I'll be driving the van for Queer as Folk UK, one of my all-time favorite fandoms. If you are unfamiliar with this fandom, you should check out the fandom overview written by
raveninthewind and
butterfly. The main pairing in this fandom is Stuart/Vince, and my stories will reflect that. If you're interested in learning more about the Stuart/Vince pairing, you could try my Stuart/Vince manifesto, written for
ship_manifesto.
Fandom: QUEER AS FOLK UK
Pairing: Stuart/Vince
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: Tia's Fics @ Across the Pond
Why this must be read:
This is a fun story about the first time that Stuart and Vince break up. I think that the author gets their tumultuous relationship just right. There's angst and sadness as Stuart and Vince deal with their break up and try to pretend they're over each other, and humor as the other members of their group bet on how long it will take them to get back together. I also think that the reason the author gives for their fight is perfectly in character. I could see this happening exactly.
It went on like that, for four nights in a row. Stuart and Vince would inevitably run into one another at the same pub or club. It was never discussed or planned, and both would rather snog Margaret Thatcher than admit that they had asked around, inquiring of each other's whereabouts. The night would usually end with the pair of them doing quite a bit more than kissing in bathrooms and backrooms, or wrapped up in one another's arms, sharing long, slow, and sweet, *sweet* kisses on the dance floor.
Never mind Manchester's Champion Shagger. Stuart and Vince were Manchester's Champion *Shaggers*.
They rarely went back to the flat, and when they did Vince never stayed, and Stuart never asked. They still pulled other blokes. One night Stuart watched Vince having his cock sucked by a lovely bald bloke who was a dead ringer for Vin Diesel, and torn between murderous rage, and jealousy, because he was such a nice-looking bloke, and being turned on as fuck, Stuart had left in a huff, for the first time questioning whether this was what he really wanted.
From the sidelines, Hazel watched and shook her head in appalled amusement. Judging from the embarrassed look on the young lad's face who was rapidly exiting the men's bathroom, it didn't take a genius, only a mother who knew her son, and every other Tom, Dick, and Harry in the pub to work out what Stuart and Vince were getting up to in there.
