Nowhere to Run by Em (R)
There was no rating available for this story, so I ballparked one myself.
Fandom: QUEER AS FOLK UK
Pairing: Stuart/Vince
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: idicEm's stories @ Across the Pond
Why this must be read:
My favorite scene in QaFUK is the one at the end of the fourth episode. Stuart has just fucked up royally, and he trails after Vince in his car, begging Vince to get in. Vince doesn't acknowledge him at all and eventually takes off running down the street to end the episode. This story is a great follow up to that scene, because of course Stuart would show up at Vince's flat expecting to be instantly forgiven. It's great because Em's Vince doesn't give an inch, even though he wants to, and it's a lovely post-ep that fits well into canon.
Vince increased his pace. Anger and bitterness dogged his steps as he drew closer to his flat. It was inconceivable that Stuart hadn't known how his little tryst would affect him. He felt . . . violated. He might not have much of Stuart, but that room embodied most of what he did have. And Stuart felt nothing. It meant nothing to him. In the end, the only thing that mattered to Stuart Alan Jones was sex.
His feet turned in automatically at his apartment. His run up the flight of stairs drained him, and he sagged against the wall outside his door to catch his breath. Stuart's cocky attitude played over and over in his head, his words pathetic placations, inadequate in the face of betrayal. Meaningless.
Vince dragged his tired body upright and pulled out his key. With a broad shoulder against the door, he pushed it open and fell into his dark apartment. He didn't bother turning on a light until he got to the kitchen. After a thirst-quenching drink of water, he walked back into the living room, trying to decide between finding something to pummel and falling into bed.
"'Bout time you got home."
