So, I completely missed the fact that Friday was the day for vid recs. Sorry about being late, but I love this vid so much I have to post.

Why this vid kicks ass:
"This is How It Works" is one of my favorite fanvids, ever. I know I saw multiple recs for it on LJ, but no one has rec'd it here, so I get to say my piece. (It's also a Winner in the 2006 Stargate Fan Awards.)

This vid's effect on me has something to do with the intersection of vidder's skill, artist, song, and my own grief, and I felt like I got a punch in the stomach--no, a stab to the heart--when I saw it for the first time. The visuals are stunning, and if you've read the story it's based on ("Freedom's Just Another Word for Nothing Left to Lose" by synecdochic), you know that "On the Radio" is a perfect song choice for this vid.

One thing - the copy on youtube does't look like it was uploaded by lim, and I'm not sure if they got her permission, either. There is a streaming version that lim put up here (http://profile.imeem.com/fZLcEa/video/Tk2siKdd/this_is_how_it_works/), though, on imeem, and you might want to put up a link to that. (It'll probably look nicer than the youtube one, too.)

Excellent rec. I love that video. It has the same effect on me. That one shot where John's raising his glass (from 'Aurora') just kills me. I can't even hear the song without tearing up now.
