Why this must be read:
Something I really appreciate when it's done well is a fic that brings a secondary character to the fore and turns him into a real person. "The Hardest Part of Dying" is a remix of the second season's Stacy arc from Mark's point of view, and it's poignantly and believably written. Mark's resentment and insecurity come through clearly. It's a rare character and a rare pairing to see featured, but a worthy story and a well-written one.
