The Sentinel/Demon Under Glass (R)

Title: Blood Types, by LilyK.
Pairing: Jim and Blair, Simon and Joe
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: All archived at 852 Prospect.

Why this must be read:
The chances are, if you’re a Sentinel fan, you’ve seen, or at least heard of the film Demon Under Glass. I know this film isn’t exactly popular with a swathe of the fandom, but I love it. For those who don’t know the story, it follows what happens when a vampire, Simon Molinar (played by Jason Carter), is captured and subjected to experimentation that borders on torture. The doctor most intimately involved in the tests, Joe McKay (played by Garett Maggart) forms a relationship with the vampire, becomes deeply affected by the plight of the man in his charge and starts to question the morality of what is going on in the name of science. The ethics become further muddied when it’s discovered that Joe has the much-sought genetic marker that means a vampire’s bite will not kill, but turn him.

At the end of the film, Molinar escapes, promising Joe he will return for him (which he does, in the book-of-the-film, which I highly recommend).

This crossover takes up the story some time after Joe and Simon have linked up to fight the project that imprisoned Molinar. In this fic, Joe McKay and Blair Sandburg are identical twins; both have the genetic marker. Nicely dark and angsty!

There is an NC17 sequel; Crossed and Matched, which I’ve also linked.

Blood Types
Crossed and Matched.

Oooo! I'm bookmarking this AND putting it in my memories to read when I get home. I like the sound of this. And yes, I like the movie, too. *g*

I love these stories.

However, I recommended them on [livejournal.com profile] crack_van before on Crossover Day when I was pimping Sentinel exactly 2 years to this day! *g* The link is here:

You might want to check the crossover stories in the Memories section before posting. I know there are 436 stories listed there, but that way you aren't repeating other recs. I know it's hard not accidentally repeating another person's recs, but this way you have something new to offer to the community and maybe post a story some of us haven't seen before!

I've loved what you've had to offer so far. Good luck!

Thanks for the rec! I had no idea my stories had been rec'd before, and yet again, it seems. I appreciate the kind thoughts -- both times!

I've seen this movie around but have passed it by cause I don't like horror so much. However, after reading your rec of both the fanfic and the movie, I'm gonna give both a look-see. Thanks for taking the time to rec the movie, too.

Question, does the ending of the movie differ from the book ending? And which would be better to spend time on in regards to reading the fics you have recced here?

Thanks again!

Oh, I have no problem with watching "low budget" films. I've seen a bunch of stinkers in my time (see my post about Olivier Gruner). Although I must say I never made it though the second Starship Troupers movie starring, yeppers, Richard Burgi. Now THAT was a bad movie, but he was just so gorgeous. *fans self* I just couldn't turn it off till almost the very end when I couldn't take the actual movie anymore.

Anyway. I'm heading off to the library this weekend and will check out the book, hopefully. I love branching out, as it were, in fandoms.

Thanks again.

Me 'n Amazon, we be mates! Most of my pay goes there, or so it seems. I did an online search of what's at the library and didn't find it. So...Amazon to the rescue.

Didn't you just HATE that naked blonde chick? I think she was blonde. *scratches head* I just might have to get this one too over the weekend. Just to see him over and over.

RB is also in an episode of Firefly. I was like, WOOHOO! Jim, where ya been?

Quite late to the conversation, but I have to say, that while I cannot bear horror films/gross out films/films with bugs, I actually *own* Starship Troopers 2 and have watched it numerous times. Richard Burgi is really good and drop dead gorgeous.

He is also quite good in Darklight. That movie is stupid and the special effects are just painful, but Richard Burgi's character is pretty wonderful and he does a good job with it.

Darklight isn't quite the lustfest of barechested grizzled Burgi that ST2 is, but it's worth a look.
