Why this must be read:

What sells me on this story over and over again and keeps it in my top ten favorites is the Chris characterization. Chris is sharp and oblivious and quick-witted and goofy. Contradictory in all the best, real ways, Chris is doing everything he can to keep the relationship he has, which of course means doing as little as possible, as stealthily as possible, so that Lance doesn't notice and run away. Meanwhile Lance has some surprises in store for Chris.

It isn't supposed to be an every day kind of deal. At least Chris doesn't think so when they start it up again in Las Vegas. Not that he isn't an every day kind of guy, because he is, he's a two times a day kind of guy when the wind is right, but. It's him and Lance and even a million years ago, when they'd been madly in lust and Europe, they hadn't spent all their free time in bed together. Just wasn't their style. They were both a little too independent for that.

At least, that's what he'd been told at the time.

So it isn't supposed to be an every day kind of deal but somehow it turns out that Lance is trekking across town for a couple hours every evening they're both around, or every afternoon, depending on what's going on in their schedules. And it somehow turns out that Chris happens to be at home when Lance gets there, and it just seems that other people go away then, although Chris never remembers sending them away later. That's just how it is. A not-every-day kind of deal that Chris is very careful not to look at too closely, even when Lance has been there every day for weeks.

I haven't read this story in ages! That must be remedied asap, it's so much fun. Thank you for reminding me of it!
