Oral History (G)

Fandom: HARRY POTTER
Pairing:Padma Patil / Susan Bone (One line worth, I'd call it Gen)
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] acadine
Author Website: Arithmancy.net
Why this must be read:

Because it's often said that fanfic is a means of critiquing the text -- and it's very rarely true.

But it is here.

Specifically, this short story looks at whether the Potter-verse could be considered bi-racial.

Even more it manages to do that -- and do it well -- while also being a good story.

Only at Hogwarts, they joke, would history actually be taught by a dead white European man.

Acadine requests that people not link directly to her stories without permission. 'Oral History' can be found from her website by clicking 'enter' then 'femmeslash'. It's worth the trouble.

About "Oral History"

This was a wonderful recommendation! One of the things that's always bothered me about the HPverse in canon and fanon is the lack of multi-cultural elements. Granted, most of them are the differences between muggle and wizarding, but it would be nice to see more layers within these. I loved this story gave us a different glimpse of Cho and Padma. Just a great story all around. Thank you!
