Why this mustbe read: This story goes AU from the season 2 finale. After Kara is in an accident, her memory of her relationship to Lee changes life for many people on Galactica. Lee finally gets a glimpse of Kara's love, and he has to decide how to navigate the new connection between them. A multi-chapter epic, with several delightful twists in the plot, this one of my favorite Kara/Lee stories for everything including romance, angst and yummy hot smut.
Forty minutes later, Lee was outside Kara’s room, being held back by his father.
“She’s alright, isn’t she?” Lee was starting to panic at the strange look his father and Cottle were exchanging.
Cottle spoke. “Physically she’s a hundred percent healthy. She has a constitution as stubborn as her attitude.”
Lee put it together immediately. If her body was strong, that only left possible damage to her brain. That was completely unacceptable. Starbuck was supposed to be a handful. Difficult, annoying, strong, opinionated; the list went on.
Bill took Lee to the side. “She seems fine, except for one thing.” He paused and took a deep breath. “Lee. Kara keeps asking for her husband.”
The breath whooshed out of Lee’s lungs. Her husband? Did she and Sam actually get married? Lee’s mind raced to the last conversation they had. “Sam’s asked me to marry him,” and, “I haven’t said yes.”
No, no, they couldn’t be married. Unless maybe she’s confused and thinks that they are.
“Have you sent for Anders yet?” Lee tried to keep his voice even. He was dying to go in and see her, but her needs were to come first.
“No, I thought you might want to see her first.” Bill hesitated and gave Lee a direct look. “I don’t think she’s referring to Anders, son.”
