Why this must be read: The death of Bruce Wayne's parents, Thomas and Martha Wayne, is the defining event in his life, and ultimately the reason he became Batman. Yet very little is known about them. Thomas has had occasional stories in canon, but Martha has remained a cipher. Ming takes Martha and makes her a real person instead of a symbol.

This fanwork straddles the edge of fanart and fanfic in a way that I think is beautifully appropriate for a fandom based on comics. The art and story, each beautiful by themselves, combine to do what neither could achieve separately. A lovely little story that rewards close study.
