Why this must be read: In the aftermath of DMC, Davy Jones has sent Bootstrap Bill to Tia Dalma’s to deliver a warning: Will must return Jones’s heart or suffer the same fate as Jack Sparrow. The small problem being, of course, that Will doesn’t *have* it—although it doesn’t take Elizabeth long to figure out who does.

Returning to Port Royal, Elizabeth and James spend the night screwing and screwing with each other, as both try to manipulate the other’s past and present desires, in order to achieve their own ambitions. tenacitydrader’s story is so well-constructed, that the entire plot turns on a misplaced word.

This is my favorite version of James/Elizabeth: both somewhat piratical, emotionally ambiguous, and beautifully messed-up in a Wesley/Lilah sort of way.
