I Swear by Live Lady Roadkill [NC17]

Fandom: TOUR OF DUTY
Pairing: Lt Myron Goldman/Sgt Zeke Anderson
Author on LJ: None
Author Website: Notes From the Underground

Why this is a must read:

There are a lot of “After the War” stories that pick up where the television series left off, but Live Lady Roadkill’s look at Zeke and Myron is unique and very believable. And it’s not a perfect life, either. Zeke is a paraplegic and Myron is dealing with crushing guilt and post traumatic stress. It’s also a role reversal for both men, with Zeke going to college and Myron unable to even consider entering a classroom, despite his dream of being a teacher.

It’s an engaging and often uncompromising look at what life could be for these two. They had survived Vietnam, but what about now?

This is a wonderful story to introduce anyone to slash. Despite the fact that both these men have so many obstacles to overcome, both physically and emotionally, Roady is able to show how much they do love each other. And even with Zeke in a wheelchair, they still share an active and often inventive sex life.

Moreover, it’s a story of acceptance: acceptance of surviving the war, of mistakes past and present, of each other and of themselves beyond the prejudices that they must face every day.

Thanks for reccing this. I just couldn't stop reading this once I started. It actually made me cry at one point I was so angry once the circumstances surrounding Zeke's injury came out. I also love Uncle Ira. Very well done original character.

Another thing from the story that I didn't point out is the fact that it's Myron who does the "seducing". Most of the stories out there have Zeke being the one to initiate things. I liked it and felt it was very realistic. I could see an "older" man being more hesitant to express his feelings and pursue another man of any age. I'm going to have to print this one out too. So much fanfic, so little storage space.
