Why this must be read:
A couple of months ago, I co-sponsored the multi-fandom "Less is More" challenge, with the idea being to write the hottest fic possible without any actual sexing. There were some fantastic responses (find the masterlist here), and this was one of my favorites. I'm a big sucker for pre-series Kowalski and Stella, and this is exactly how I imagine them—young and scorching hot and playful and enthralled with each other and just a little bit fucked up. The story is short, but it packs a lot of punch.
An excerpt:
She knows what she’s doing. Ray’s sure of it. She’s hitched her skirt up a little - God he loves her legs - and she’s sat facing slightly away from him, so that he has a great view of the smooth curve of her thigh. He has an instant flashback to waking up with her this morning, running his hand up between her legs while she sighed and curled towards him. Sliding his fingers into her-
“…a member of the Chicago Police Department?”
Shit, he zoned out there for a second, and now one of Stella’s lawyer friends is staring at him like he’s just dropped in from Mars.
