On love and annoyance...

Item the first: February is the month of lurve, and of chocolates and roses, and their cyber-equivalents! Let’s give our volunteer reccers a hint at our hearts’ desire.

[Poll #243696]

Item the second: You may not be aware that we limit our volunteers on the number of fic recs they can post each month. The reason for this is two-fold: to ensure the longevity of the community and to limit friends-list spammage (with 38 current fandoms, unlimited recs could quickly get out of hand). To date, on average, there are 7.4 [livejournal.com profile] crack_van posts per day, though some days the volume is quite a lot higher than that, and I understand there may be some frustration with lack of cut-tags here.

[Poll #243697]

And speaking of those rec limits…

[Poll #243698]

Thanks for playing! And don’t forget to read my Smallville recs this month! Participation is mandatory!!

More recs!!!!! Though I think you knew I'd be in favor of that ;)

I had no idea about the cut tag controversy nor about the limit on the number of recs per month. Since this is hardly my first time making recs, I think that's strange. Were there instructions that I failed to read, or is this on the actual user page somewhere?

Alrighty. I am skooled.

I'm too lazy to make that many recs anyhoo. But I am dutifully reading away to make sure I rec as many as I can.

I'm glad you liked it. She's a darling. Fb her.

And, dammit, I'd rec 30 stories again if I thought you'd let me, because I'm that much of a One-Fandom Girl and there's so much good stuff in SV fic that I can't imagine we'll run out of excellent things to rec (does shiny-red-cowboy-boot dance on top of soap box)

I do love to drive... When is the next open slot, anyway?

And, umm, if anyone else out there can help me with DS9 recs...

Ahh... this is good...

Re: cut tags - I'd certainly like to see the length of the un-cut rec reduced. I like to see a summary paragraph on why I should read the story and then if that grabs me, I can click for the full reason and a quote.

Recently there have been a couple of rec that were just about a full screen for one rec. While I applaud the enthusiasm and... volubility of the person making the rec - a little TMI for me and the very thing that keeps me from wanting to add crack_van to my friends page.

I understand the rec limits for normal fandoms, but I hope they don't count for the small fandoms of the month, as I'd really like to be able to rec as many Hard Core Logo stories as possible this month...

It would be nice if story excerpts could go behind cut tags, at least the long ones, or ones that . . . well, I've hit a couple of story excerpts (the one that comes to mind involved really graphic violence) that I wouldn't really have chosen to read over breakfast.

The only reason I don't have this community friended is because I read my friendslist at work. I download stories to my palmpilot at home, and I'd have to visit the community page to do that anyway.

I love this place - I've read in fandoms that florished before I discovered fanfiction, I've read pairings I'd never looked at. Hours and hours of entertainment has been provided.
