Why this must be read: because what is a Snarry recommendation without a forced bonding story on the list?
Set after The Order of the Phoenix, this isn't your typical cliched forced bonding story, as Meri takes that tired plot and turns it on its head. No, this long, plotty involved piece gives us in-character Snape and Harry who over time grow to like, and later love, each other because of their bond. But this turn from hated enemies to potential lovers is done gradually and the author makes you believe it with her artfully crafted plot and dialog.
My favorite bit of the story is the fact that Snape will not under any circumstances sleep with Harry until after he graduates from Hogwarts - no matter how many times Harry tries to seduce Snape! A morally uptight Snape fighting off Harry - and the bond pushing them together - is a thing of beauty.
