Why this must be read: "Future Perfect: Imperative" is one of my all time favorite Hercules stories and one of my many favorite Artemis Artemis stories, because it's funny. Fall down, laugh out loud, hurt yourself funny, and all the humor comes out of the natural canon characterizations. The plot concerns Aphrodite bringing the adult Hercules and Iolaus back in time to meet their younger selves from the Young Hercules era. The Aphrodite of the past is impatient for young Hercules and Iolaus to get together, and thinks showing them what a great couple their older selves are will expedite her desire for: "I want... flesh! I want carnage! I want naked boys rolling around next to the campfire! I want... I want... to exercise my divine right to voyeurism!!" Needless to say, no one cooperates. The humor and the mix of poignant moments, where the older characters see the young Iolaus and realize what he's got in store for him, make for an excellent story on all levels. Artemis Artemis has also written NC17 Hercules fiction, and also writes as Helena Handbasket.
