A Knock at the Door by Angela Mull (R)
Fandom: HIGHLANDER
Pairing: Duncan/Tessa
Author Website: Story found at The Seventh-Dimension Highlander Fanfic Archive
Why this must be read:
There is nothing so sweetly angstful as a hostage situation, especially one that occurs in a place that's supposed to be safe...
"Just...talk to me," Richie said, shivering.
Tessa used one hand to secure the bandage, and with the other she rubbed Richie's arm to try to warm him. "What do you want to talk about?"
"Anything," he gasped, pressing his face further into the couch as Duncan started carefully wrapping the gauze around Richie's midsection.
"How about what you want to do when we get out of here?" she suggested. "Go to a movie? Or maybe the mall, so you can find a pretty girl to take out for a date," she teased.
Richie moved his head toward Tessa to look her in the eyes. "I just want to go home."
The simple honesty of the answer unexpectedly tugged at Duncan's heart. A little more than a year ago, Richie hadn't had a home.
