Why this must be read: This story does what, to me, is the main reason I read fanfiction: Destina takes the existing canon and writes about what happens in the in-between times, and in the process creates a more resonant and affecting story.
"Footnotes" take The Sentinel and extracts the good parts - the characters' developing friendship and barely-subtextual romance - and so reading it is a bit like rewatching all the best moments of the show (only better written). It's long, engaging, sweet, satisfying, and utterly true to the characters.
And, er, hi! I'm Mary, and I'll be your Sentinel reccer for February. I really only read J/B in this fandom, so I'm afraid I won't have many recommendations for stories with other pairings. But then, something like 75% of all Sentinel stories are focused on the J/B *some*how, anyway.

Oh, I'd say it's probably closer to 95%. There are certainly stories out there where one or both of them are paired with other people, or are involved in a threesome, but the vast, vast majority of stories out there are Jim/Blair. I don't think any of us here on
