Why this must be read:

This is a short piece which captured an amazing amount of depth in a few words. It really details the difficulties that lay inherent in a cross-species relationship. Beautifully written, the story unfolds in a brief moment of intimacy, leaving the reader aware of the sheer amount of history that exists between Helo and Athena, even as the two protagonists are trying to figure out what future they still have.

This is also an incredible look at Karl "Helo" Agathon. The man was willing to risk everything for a member of the enemy… yet, he still doubts.

Author's Summary: Helo has gotten used to Sharon in Boomer's body. Now he gets used to Sharon in Athena's body.

She’s scarless now, a blank slate, Sharon in a new body. It doesn’t look new. It looks tired and loving and Sharon, just like the old one. But it feels wrong and Helo traces where the scars should go, digging into her skin with his fingernails where they should be.
