Why this must be read:
After the war Dick Winters took up Lewis Nixon's offer to come with him to New Jersey. While there are a great many (fantastic) New-Jersey-era fics, this is the one that I always find myself coming back to. The complex intimacy between them that captured us throughout the series is revisited with a natural ease that gives this snapshot in time a grace often missing from shorter pieces.
“I thought you were gonna give it up, Lew?”
Dick speaks with a soft voice but Nixon can discern the frustration. He lowers his face and shrugs.
The clock in the hallway sounds two times. Lewis Nixon is drunk and Dick Winters is disappointed.
“I broke a glass, Dick.”
