Dream Of Fools by Spica (NC-17)
Fandom: THE X-FILES
Pairing: Krycek/Scully
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: Spica's X-Files Fan Fiction
Why this must be read:
It's still the 1st somewhere, right? I'd so wanted to be on top of things this month. lol We'll see just how well that happens, again.
Anyway, I'm MF Luder, your September driver for The X-Files. This month, you'll see things from me with a lot of Krycek, a lot of angst, and even some apocalyptic fic.
For the first rec, I bring to you my all time favorite Krycek/Scully. What I like to point out about this pairing is, as my good friend
motorwill once said: there is absolutely nothing in canon. I mean, they exchange maybe five glances, a few heated words (Tunguska), he killed her sister and he's constantly beating up her boyfriendpartner. Why in the world would Scully ever fall for this guy? Well, sometimes you have just sex. And other times, it's through the very fact that their relationship isn't written out that we are able to explore what lies beneath the surface of these two emotional characters.
In Dream of Fools, we see a different, almost angry, almost bitter Scully, who is unsatisfied and vaguely pining for Mulder. Krycek opens her eyes to new things and a different Krycek. He's romantic, yet bitter; rough, yet beautiful. He knows poetry and speaks Russian and woos Scully in his own unique way. This is a fully Russian Krycek (and we get to see a mixed, yet seemingly right, past) and that's always my favorite interpretation.
