Why this must be read: There are several stories that explore what the demon Ahriman might have offered Methos, similar to Joe Dawson being tempted by the return of his legs. This one is as well written as any of them, but what sets it apart is its unique character point of view.
Here follows a bit of a spoiler, but since you find it out immediately in the story, I'm going to tell you that the narrator is a kitten that adopts Methos. This ensures that the beginning is hilarious as we get a kitten-eye view of the oldest Immortal
He set her in the shelter of a doorway, and strode away. The kitten was beginning to worry that her chosen human was not too bright. Well, that just meant that he needed her. She chased after him.
When it comes to the temptations, the fact that the kitten knows none of the characters that appear, gives us a fresh perspective on each scenario. But this doesn't detract from the emotional impact of the demon's deceits and Methos' choices.
