Small Fandom Month Update!

Wow, so okay, we had a lot of volunteers for fandoms that we've never featured before, so will not be doing any "previously featured" fandoms this round. Maybe we should make this a twice annual event since there is so much interest?

Would anyone be interested in reccing/writing the overview for Prison Break? It seems to have a lot of interest overall, but it just hasn't worked out for one reason or another when I've tapped volunteers.

Okay, I must admit I'm confused - Prince of Tennis (http://www.livejournal.com/interests.bml?int=prince+of+tennis) counts as a small fandom? As does Avatar? (http://www.livejournal.com/interests.bml?int=avatar) Maybe I'm not understanding how the community works, but I'm totally puzzled by your definition of small.

As has been explained many times and in many places on this community, anything not in full-time rotation gets lumped into the small/miscellanous fandom category. There are a bunch of fandoms large enough to be full-time here, particularly anime/manga fandoms, that are still small/misc. because no one's taken the ball to get them up and running (which includes writing the overview, and "guaranteeing" a minimum of 8 reccers immediately).

I will be posting a poll with for some of the larger fandoms on this list to gauge which ones might have enough community members willing to take a month of recs to move them to full-time starting January 1st.

This reminds me about something I've been wondering for a while -- is there any way someone could write an overview *without* doing the recs? There are a couple of fandoms where I love the canon but can't find fic and if my writing the overview (which I tend to enjoy) would allow someone else to start posting recs, I'd be all for it. Is there any way a post can be set up for overview-writers looking for reccers and/or reccers looking for overview writers?

Enormously excited as I am about this, is there a link to some instructions about exactly what is required and how it all works? I know there's an overview, but when are they posted, and how many recs are required, and when and so on and so on?
