Hi, my name is Andy, and I'll be driving the van for Life on Mars this month. I'm so excited, we're such a small fandom, but we've got some wonderful fic!

Why this must be read:

I thought I'd start this journey with my favourite author. Loz is a mighty pillar of the Life on Mars community, tirelessly running the 1973flashfic fortnightly challenge, running both the martianholiday and Ficathon 2007 as well as being a member of the fic-squad on lifein1973 and a co-conspirator of the Archive project. It's amazing that she ever gets time to write anything, let alone write a large body of excellent fic, guaranteed to titillate, educate or merely entertain.

This is one of the two pieces that got me really hooked on the fandom (after, obviously, becoming hooked on the show itself). There are a number of dark-fic in the community, in fact we seem to be rather obsessed with the darker side of life in general. This is an AU, set in and around the first series only – Sam has given up and Chris is worried.

Some days, Chris is sure he’s coming down with a dose of the crazies. He keeps coming up with theories about where Sam goes when he’s not at the station, and these theories usually include dark alleyways.
