The Blue Figurine by Courtney Grey (PG)

Fandom: THE PROFESSIONALS
Pairing: Bodie/Doyle
Author on LJ: N/A

Why this must be read: This story is one of my favourite. It explores the possibilities of the what-if and the careful what you wish for concepts in the most striking way. What would happen if one or the other of the Lads wished they have never met before? So many possibilities...:) There is quite a lot of angst in this story but also a delicate touch that I love.

Yay! I'm so glad to see a Pros rec here again - crack_van needs more Pros recs!

I found this fic very disturbing and eerie in parts - your mind kind of twists around the concept. But it was very well done (and ultimately hopeful, I thought). I sometimes long for a sequel or a companion piece from Bodie's POV.

It is a pity ... but more and more seem to be appearing, if slowly. I'm working on it myself - with any luck I'll be able to help KC get an automated archive up some time this year, and I know she has lots of stories ready to go online, she just hasn't had the time to get them there. I'm relatively new to Pros myself (mostly a dS person, which you might know if you saw my recs last month), and I'm feeling pretty passionate about it - I'm also definitely an online fannish person, and I'm an archivist at heart, and I'm kind of, umm, unrestrained in voicing my enthusiasm for my passions, so I'll keep working at it, for whatever one person's effort is worth!

I actually just posted a little rant in my own LJ about how sad I am not to see a more active online Pros fandom, and more enthusiasm about crack_van. I'd volunteer do it myself, but I just haven't read enough to feel qualified. I am working on a Pros section to my own website (which is sort of a compilation of rec sites, archives, etc. etc. - a resource rather than a source) - but I haven't quite worked out the best way to do it, since Pros is a different type of fandom from my others, so it might take a while.

Anyway, I'm babbling. As you say, yay for Pros love, and thanks for doing this!!

I too love this story and long for a sequel. Courtney has said she definitely is not going to write one but any other writer who wishes to do so has her full support and encouragement. Now we need to find a writer who loves the story as much as I do and who wants a sequel as much as I do.
