Why this must be read:

Prince of Tennis is so easy to translate into AU. Lys ap Adin takes Rikkaidai's top heavies, Yukimura and Sanada, and whips them up into this frothy and intoxicating cup of gangster Zabaglione. Sanada is a successful writer who hates to schmooze, but must in order to sell his books; Yukimura is the fan who makes these dreaded publicity events all worthwhile. Too often in PoT fanfics, Sanada's bluntness becomes raw and coarse. Here it rings pure and true.

Cool rec! It made me try a new fandom, and while I still know next to nothing about Prince of Tennis, I'm mighty interested in these characters. I loved the fic, is there any chance you could point me in the right direction for some more?

All the Prince of Tennis recs which I've compiled so far for crack_van are stored in the community's memories list (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=crack_van&keyword=Prince+of+Tennis+Fanfic+Recs&filter=all), but I'm not sure where the initial overviews (http://community.livejournal.com/crack_van/2808871.html) are stored, if at all.

lysapadin is in a class of her own as far as writing PoT fics and, unfortunately if you're enticed by that particular pairing, that's the only story I know of that she has written for that ship and in that particular AU.

Stack the Deck (http://axtar.livejournal.com/70107.html) by axtar is a fictional character study of all the members of the Rikkaidai tennis regulars. It gives an nice permutation to their individual characters.

reddwarfer has some excellent PoT fics, although she does focus on her protagonists as the teenaged athletes they are in canon. Her story On the Matter of Crushes (http://reddwarfer.livejournal.com/256548.html) is a light and excellent character study with pron.

I'm also very fond of branchfic's series of stories on that pairing, especially Six Examples (http://branchfic.livejournal.com/63480.html) and one from a fic-series rec I planned to post later this month, Water (http://www.branchandroot.net/archive/?p=151). It helps to know a bit about the Prince of Tennis universe first, but her stories are so fulfilling, I could read anything she writes.
