Why this must be read:
Okay, I'm going to very up front with this rec. Yes,darthfi is a friend of mine, and yes we write together occasionally. But going back to the dark!fic I couldn't not rec one of hers. So what can I say about Fi? Fi has a flair for inventiveness and a real cruel streak. She loves toying with her readers almost as much as the characters themselves. All of which leads to some superb fic, although she doesn't write in the Life on Mars fandom solo as much as she should.
This trilogy of fic is set after the end of the second series. It's dark and bitter and incredibly nasty. Warnings for explicit sex, character death and incest.
Wracked with guilt over his final act at the end of the series, Sam's 'happy ever after' soon turns into hell. Sam is kidnapped by the Tylers and ends up the sex-slave of the woman he knows as mother.
Excerpt
She stops outside the pool of light and he continues looking upwards at the thick, semi-opaque glass that is part of the pavement. She already knows he knows it’s her. He flinches, almost imperceptibly, when he hears Vic’s feet approaching him. He knows better than to do so when it’s her.
She wonders if he knows how long he’s been down here. Ruth has almost lost track of the time herself, of the days that turned into weeks, of the initial panic after that first night where he fought and shouted and finally surrendered, his voice hoarse from resistance that turned into begging and pleading, finally silenced by sleep, sandwiched between them, his wrists turning livid, still tied to the bed head, and Vic had turned to her, fear in his eyes.
“We can’t let him go.”
“I wasn’t planning on it.”
