Why this must be read:
Dakin sees Posner in a bar, years later, and wants him. It's great to see Posner all grown up, and coming into himself, and for Dakin to yearn after him for a change. Except it's Dakin, so less with the longing glances and more with the actually taking action. Hot and believable, with a hint of actually making some sort of connection for once.
It’s like winning the lottery, Posner’s bright impress me look, as if he thinks Stuart doesn’t remember years of Posner’s eyes on him, Posner fucking yearning at him around every corner, Dakin, Dakin, Dakin. As if they both don’t know that Stuart’s got the win safe in his pocket. And when Stuart pushes him against a wall and kisses him, that night, in the back-alley behind the bar, there’s a thrum of tension all through Posner’s body, but the kiss itself is still cautious, critical.
“Mm,” Posner says, bites him lightly and pulls away. There’s high colour in his face, visible even under the uneven sodium light, but his eyes are thoughtful. “What do you want?”
