Why this must be read:

An absolute delight from start to finish, this story is a must read for this fandom. The writing is smooth and the characters are spot-on with Florian proving very clearly that he is neither helpless nor a victim but he is a perfect match for Ray.

Thanks for reading the recs. Gorgeous Carat fandom is small but fortunate to have some great authors. FF.net has the largest quantity of GC stories and there are plans in the works to put together a GC site. Now that the series has resumed hopefully it will inspire more fanfic.

I'm glad you enjoyed the recs. There are so many good stories it was hard to narrow them down to just a few, and I'm sure I missed stories that deserved a mention. I really hope that, now that there are new chapters of Gorgeous Carat, there will be more fanfic. Speaking of which... any chance you might consider writing more stories about Ray and Florian? (::hopeful::)

Wait...there's MORE Gorgeous Carat? For real? I thought it was just the four volumes. Yay!

Yes, new chapters of Gorgeous Carat La Esperanza started in the October issue of Spica, a downloadable Japanese manga magazine. It costs 210 yen (less than $2 US) to activate the magazine and new chapters of GC have been featured in the October and December issues so far. I have download/activation instructions for those (like me) who can't read Japanese but want to download the magazine anyway. Let me know if you'd like the link to the instructions.

So far in the new story, Ray and Florian are in Spain. At a street festival, they get separated and Florian goes into a church to cool off. There he sees a young woman kneeling in front of a statue crying. The woman leaves and Florian notices that the statue now appears to be crying. In the second chapter, Ray and Florian are in a pub where there are dancers entertaining. One of them is the woman Florian saw in the church and she throws him a rose, making Florian blush. A few minutes later, some rowdy patrons cause a disturbance, hitting the dancer. The chapter ends with Florian standing between her and a group of angry men.

I'd read something of shayheyred's if it was just the instructions for opening a box. She is one of my favorite writers. Thanks for bringing this story to my attention.
