All of Us Drown, by arrow00. (PG)

Hi, I'm thady and I'll be your due South reccer for this month. I read practically everything with emphasis on Fraser/Kowalski, so expect a mixed batch.

Fandom: DUE SOUTH
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] arrow00
Author Website: http://arrow00.com/

Why this must be read:

This is a gorgeous piece of fanfiction, beautifully written without being too pretentious. [livejournal.com profile] arrow00 manages a graceful tightrope walk of conveying exactly what is happening through an unrealiable narrator. I don't want to give away too much here, because part of the charm is figuring out what exactly is happening.

Fraser wants to breathe, but it's too difficult, as if the air condensed from gaseous to liquid form while he was falling, the crack of the bat against his ribs still resonating in his ears like an exclamation point.

And then he is underwater, chest heaving without success, and in the dim glow surrounding him he records—Ray, on his feet again, taking down the perpetrator with a blow to the face and a vicious twisting of the man's arm, and then Ray is on his phone yelling something, but the bubble is in Fraser's ears now and he can't make out the words. It sounds like "All of us drown! All of us drown!"

Yes. All of us drown.

Welcome aboard as a CV driver! I can't wait to see what recs you've got lined up for January, and you've certainly started off in style: [livejournal.com profile] arrow00 is one of my favorite dS writers, and this story is an emotional powerhouse. I love it, and your rec is great. Thanks so much for participating!
