Why this must be read: It's not listed in the credits, but the show would not be the same without it: New York is a vital part of what makes Sports Night - both our show, and the show within it – the thing we love. Dan loves it too, as well we know. Casey? Casey sometimes needs convincing. That's just one of the things that Dan's there to do for him.

A collection of vignettes, witty and warm and wise and filled with unforgettable images (Spamalot, opening night on Broadway, Dan and Casey in the audience and, at the other end of the scale, Dan and Casey on a sticky bus ride to nowhere much) and lines (Danny's grin was now such that the canary was probably toast, and even the dog was feeling kind of nervous) and, at one point, a half-hour spent defrosting Jeremy who had apparently risked too much in the name of quality toasted bagels. New York can be cold; but the boys know its warm, beating heart.

If your lovely, near poetic descriptions of our fandom and it's works don't turn people on to it - they are hopelessly stuck in inferior fandoms!

Thank you! I do try my hardest to get across why I've picked the fics I have, and what makes them special, but I am often baffled by the response, or lack thereof. Loads of people checked out and commented on the first fic I recced this time around; last time I looked, only one had commented on laylee's and, as of a moment ago, none on this fic. And yet they're all equally good, though very different, pieces of writing. I suppose it's one of those things that doesn't bear too much thought, as there is no rational explanation.

At least people who are stuck in inferior fandoms have hope - one day they may move on. It's the ones who downgrade from Sports Night to shows of a considerably lower calibre that are a lost cause.

OMG, me and Cat were talking about you this weekend (um, in a good way! about how we like you! I promise!) and she reminded me I never commented on this to tell you how utterly delighted I am that you recced it. Having somebody whose fic you like say nice things about your own is amazing; thankyou so much.

You're welcome! It would've been nice if anyone had, you know, actually followed the link, but I tried, goddammit. SN always has been a terrible fandom for feedback, I suppose it's no wonder, really, that people are constantly drifting away.
