Hi, my name is
beatrice_otter and I will be reccing DC comics this month. I count all the various spinoffs as part of the "DC Comics" fandom (because otherwise you end up with a bunch of really small fandoms), so you'll be seeing stuff based not only on the comics themselves but on the movies and television shows. (I'm not including Smallville because they're big enough to get their own category.)
Fandom: DC COMICS
Pairing: Diana Prince (Wonder Woman)/Steve Trevor
Author on LJ:

Author Website: Bullet in the Brainpan
Why this must be read: Because Wonder Woman doesn't get enough love. Seriously, she doesn't. This fic takes her, with all her strengths and flaws, and puts her in a situation she can't win, trapped between the home she loves and the Man's World (and man) she has grown to love. The characters are all lovingly portrayed, and a plot hole left by the TV series is dealt with in a way that's true to the characters and the series. And to round things out there's also that old staple of anything set in the DCU: secret identity conflict!
Background: This fic is set between the first and second seasons of her TV show. For those of you not familiar with the show, the first season (airing on ABC in 1975) took place during WWII, with the original Wonder Woman plotline from the comics--Princess Diana comes to Man's World to fight the Nazis, working as a secretary (Yeoman Diana Prince) to Major Steve Trevor in the Department of Defense intelligence section as a cover. But ABC didn't renew it, so the series went to CBS, which insisted it be updated to a modern-day setting (i.e. the 1970's). So ageless Wonder Woman appears in the US again, this time working for the Inter-Agency Defense Command--but with no explanation of where she's been for the last 35 years or why she left. This fic is my own personal canon for what happened in that gap.

I've got a confession to make. The only comic book I've ever read in my life is Batman: Year One. My knowledge of comic-book characters is based almost completely off of what's been in cartoons, live-action TV, and movies. Everything else I've picked up from fandom and Wikipedia. But I love superheroes. I love the Superman movies and the Batman movies, I love the JL cartoons, I love Batman Beyond. So, those are mostly what you're going to see from me this time around.
