Why this must be read: Fandom often complains that there is a dearth of good fic about female characters.penknife shows how a female character can and *should* be written, in this FANTASTIC pre-movie character study of Elizabeth. "Cardinal Sins" is structured around seven sins on the way to becoming Elizabeth Swann.
Her attempts at poetry do not rhyme properly, and her attempts at drawing are odd, cramped little trees and birds that, translated into real life, would immediately crash to the ground. But she knows she doesn't have to have many accomplishments. Accomplishments are ways for girls with less money and less pretty faces to attract attention.
