Mezzanine series by ivorygates and synecdochic (Adult)

Hi, this is [livejournal.com profile] rositamia and I am behind the wheel for SG-1 this month. I am sorry about the late start, but RL got a little real there for a little bit, but I have some fantastic stories to rec this month, so I hope you'll forgive me. I am a firm believer in OTP, but I hope I have a little something for everyone this month.

Fandom: STARGATE SG1
Pairing: due to spoilers, putting this info behind a cut. There is JD Nielsen/Cameron Mitchell and JD Neilson/Daniel Jackson and JD Neilson/Daniel Jackson/Cameron Mitchell
Length: series; some short, some medium.
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] ivorygates and [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic
Author Website: Venus in Furs and two gates of sleep
Why this must be read: A direct quote from one of the authors: ninety-six thousand words' worth of stories about Lt. Col. Cameron Evangeline Mitchell (retired), JD Nielson, and Daniel Jackson. It's a universe about sex, and love, and self-identity, and disabilities both physical and mental; it's about the intersection and disjunction of sexual attraction, physical intimacy, and love; it's about learning what you can accept from and what you can offer to the people you love. (Oh, and it's about porn, too. Did I forget to mention that?)
And it is all this and just so much more. This story made me laugh, made me cry, made my mouth go dry. I love the story that inspired this: take these broken wings. They took the original starting point of Cameron and JD meeting and wrote it with Cameron being a girl. And since I couldn't talk about it without spoiling, . Cameron as a girl could go sooo very wrong, but in the hands of these two, Cammie is a beautiful, strong, stubborn, and breathtakingly alive woman. Both JD and Daniel are fully fleshed out, human and vulnerable and just so very them. And yet not. JD is his own person, not just mini-Jack. This Daniel is battle scarred and so very tired and stripped down to essence of himself. The way they entwine themselves around each other is beautiful and painful and necessary. And it broke my heart to see them struggle to get to where they were going. And made me so happy for them when they got there. This was an emotional roller coaster for me, worth every single minute I spent reading to get to the end. This is definitely a story to remember.
