Why this must be read:
Because Richard White was an awesome character, beautifully played by James Marsden. But given the dynamics of the Superman Returns fandom, he's usually seen solely as an obstacle to Superman and Lois. At best, his character is there only as Jason's step-father and Lois' fiance, with no real agency of his own.
