A Legacy of Strength by PadmeKSkywalker (General)
Fandom: STAR WARS: PREQUEL TRILOGY
Pairing: No pairings. Anakin/Padme stirrings, however.
Length: 171,045 words.
Author on LJ: I don't think she has one.
Author Website: PadmeKSkywalker's Profile on FFN
Why this must be read: This is categorized as a drama/tragedy. It is epic in its use of characters from Mace Windu to Yoda to Grievous to a well-fleshed-out OC. The AU here is that due to Obi-Wan's loss when Anakin is about seventeen, he becomes the Padawan of Mace Windu and the ensuing Master/Padawan relationship makes a more mature Jedi out of Anakin. This is a long, plotty fic which has the science fiction devices of space battles and intricate schemes that are slowly revealed, but it doesn't skimp on its focus on Anakin's characterization and his realistic transformation into the Chosen One that any Jedi would want. This was written by a young author over the span of two and a quarter years; the quality of writing was consistent start to finish. Her author's note at the very beginning needs to be amended, as Padmé Amidala does indeed feature in the later part of this story.
