Why this must be read: This fandom really was built for the angst. The author turned one itty bitty canon fact on its head and the result is a Don who is just as screwed up as he is in canon. To compensate we get some classic hurt/comfort and hot smut. The twist at the end made my breath catch.

It was a partial lie. He *had* run Don's numbers. Twice. The 'assumed' numbers had Don in the better than average category. He wasn't at risk. But the 'actual' numbers had Don not only eating his gun, but doing so in the not so far future.

The actual numbers put Don as a prime candidate for suicide. It put Charlie there too. All because they were missing a very important thing in their lives. Love, true love. And without that, neither of them stood a chance.
