Why this must be read:
I'm so fond of this Gabe characterization. He's just a dude living his life, and if that life involves a lot of sex with a lot of different people, well, what can you do? This story also has a fantastic Travis, who is a good friend to Gabe. I love the Gabe/Travis/William friendship, so this story is fun.
Although, there was a brief period where Gabe considered getting new friends after an unfortunate game of "I Never..." revealed that he didn't have any with whom he hadn't fooled around at least once. Embarrassment was something Gabe had decided he wouldn't buy into a long time ago, but it still turned out that there were instances where having everyone drink to his honor wasn't very awesome at all actually.
It wasn't that his life was especially intense. Sometimes people acted like he was a magnet for drama, but his experiences didn't really outnumber that of most people. Gabe didn't think so, at least. Sure, there was some venue drama here, or an issue with a girl there, and sometimes he found himself in the middle of a really unexpected(ly awesome) threesome, but who didn't?
Even Travis sounded all fucking baffled that time Gabe mentioned stumbling into one a couple weeks after Gym Class left Warped in 2005, which Gabe couldn't understand at all. Sometimes sexual adventures just turned out that way, and it wasn't Gabe's place to turn down a dude who wanted to blow him while his girlfriend watched. Not at any point in his life had Gabe been that much of an idiot and, besides, Frank and his lady Jamia had been open since forever. Gabe thought everybody knew that. Everyone in Jersey knew back in the day, at least.
