Why this must be read: This is my last "problem of Susan" rec. After all the ideological ways to handle Susan- attempts to take out our anger, or to redeem Lewis, or however you handle it- this fic isn't like that. It's simply about Susan, afterwards. She is alive. Her family is dead. She goes on living. There's no great tragedy, no justification, no redemption. It just is. It's sad, and quiet, and understated, and leaves Susan her dignity.
She sleeps soundly. Why shouldn’t she? She’s young, and the war is over.
