Refiner's Fire by Melisande (PG13)

Fandom: HERCULES: THE LEGENDARY JOURNEYS
Pairing: n/a
Author on LJ: n/a
Author Website: Melisande's Story Page at the Iolausian Library
Why this must be read: Hercules is injured and Iolaus, with Gabrielle's help, has to get him across some very rough country with unexpected allies and adversaries. This is a solid adventure story with good prose, good characterization, some very nice Hercules and Iolaus relationship moments, and lots of action. It's also a great story for hurt/comfort fans. And I really like the slogging-through-the-wilderness-against-heavy-odds storyline.

Oh wow, nostalgia time. I remember when Melisande was writing this story, and all of us on the Iolausian Mailing List were dying for new chapters :) Love this one. I think it was one of the first that actually had serious Hercules injuries rather than torturing Iolaus *g* Good rec choice!

Yes, I think I remember when you started writing stories. I was mostly lurking in the fandom at that point, at least on the mailing lists. I mostly lived over at the netforums (which are now over at Network54). Glad to make your acquaintance, though :) You've got good taste in fic!

Mmm, and in icons...pretty Iolaus...

Ack!

I'm new to the fandom...watched the series on TV when I was nine...more than six years ago...whoa, that's quite some time! Either way, I've rediscovered the fandom through fanfiction, and am eager to read the above mentioned story--except that the link is broken! Can somebody kindly please direct me to where I can find it? Thank you very much!

Thanks for the heads up! I'll visit those other journals soon.
