Superconnected by Kittie (PG)
Previously on Popslash: Chris got off the phone and sighed. "I have to go already. That was Johnny. Something about a tabloid fashion disaster and a crying JC. I hate it when JC cries, so I have to go stop him now."
Today on Popslash: Superconnected
Fandom: POPSLASH
Pairing: Not the point.
Author on LJ:
kittiec
Author Website: ...Yum
Why this must be read:
He wanted to be a superhero, not a sidekick. But his parents had decreed that their son would not be a full-fledged superhero until he was at least eighteen years of age, and had spent a minimum of two years learning the art of heroism at the feet of an experienced superperson. Hence, the sidekick auditions. And the fuzzy tights.
Okay, you caught me. This doesn't technically fall into the category of AU/Crossovers that I've been pimping this month. Oops. But this is such a cute story that I thought I'd make a slight exception--plus, I think you can say it's basically taking most general comic book/superhero tropes and writing it into a story. Hence the fake-person fandom AU deal.
Anyway, "Superconnected" was one of the bevy of wonderful stories that came out of this year's Don We Now Our Gay Apparel. All the characters? Are Superheros, or Superhero's-in-Training. It's such a great world, particularly if you're something of a comic book officianado. I especially like how Kittie interweaves actual canon with the AU: Chris meeting Justin at an audition, Lance being smart, etc. It makes for an egaging story definitely worth your time to read.
Main Characters:
The Trickster.
Golden Boy.
Enviroman.

Little Nicky.
Average Joe.
The Geek.
JC.
Supporting Characters:
Lynn Harless, Justin's momma.
Johnny Wright, their manager in real life and their funding in this story.
Pink.
Lil' Bit.
X.
Nelly.
I have *no* clue who the Gosling is supposed to be--maybe Aaron Carter?--so if you know and can let me in on the joke, please do.
