Stargate SG1 Show Summary
Okay, so, SG1 is based on that movie, The Stargate with Kurt Russell and James Spader. Loved Spader, tolerated Russell, and actually stayed for the whole movie. Fast forward a year or two later, and SG1 pops up on TV. This time, Colonel Jack O’Neill is played by Richard Dean Anderson, instead of Russell and Dr. Daniel Jackson is played by Michael Shanks, not James Spader. Love Shanks, LOVE Anderson, am glued to the TV on Monday and Friday nights, own Season 1 through 4 on DVD. So, yes, the TV show made me a fan.
And why not?

We’ve got Colonel Jack O’Neill, an intelligent, smart-ass, wise-cracking, ass-kicking, mischievous, adorable, sexy, uhm, you get the picture, right? He’s the one in the black leather jacket. Yummm.
Then you’ve got Dr. Daniel Jackson. He’s a highly intelligent, utterly adorable, wonderfully brave linguist and Egyptologist/archeologist. He’s the one in the white pants.
Then there’s Teal’c, played by Christopher Judge. Teal’c’s humor is delifhtfully subtle, his strength and loyalty wonderfully apparent, and he definitely can kick some ass. He’s the big, imposing dude on the end.
Lastly, the only female member on SG1, is Major Doctor Samantha Carter, played by Amanda Tapping. As you can see from the pix, she’s lovely and with a mind to match. Not only a soldier, Sam is also a theoretical astrophysicist. In Jack’s words, “she’s way smarter than we are.” Amen.
Other important members of the show include General George Hammond, the Stargate program’s commanding officer who hails from my home state of Texas and played by Don S. Davis, and Dr. Janet Fraiser, the base’s Chief Medical Officer, played by Teryl Rotherly. Here’s the General and the Doctor.

And last, but not least, the Stargate itself:

Okay, now that you know who the main players/heroes are, here’s the story:
Stargate SG1 is a science fiction show about the discovery of a Stargate, which when activated correctly, can send people through light years of space to alien worlds. The Stargate program, or Stargate command is a government-funded, Air Force-runned program that sends SG teams through the Stargate to explore these alien worlds, make friends and allies, and gather useful technology. Unfortunately, through these travels the SG teams also make enemies, like the Goa’uld, a parasitic race that use to harvest humans from Earth as hosts and slaves.
They are the Big Bad.
SG1 is the flagship team who regularly kick Goa’uld ass and save the planet.
So, there you have it. A *very* basic outline of Stargate SG1. For more information (that may include spoilers), go to Scifi’s SG1 website.

And ooo, in case you’re wondering: I like Sam and Jack together. They’re pretty together. See? (Points towards pix.) But you know? So are Jack and Daniel. Mmmmm. So, the recs will run the gauntlet from gen, to het, to slash. Enjoy!
