This House is Burning by Tesla (R)

Fandom: THE X-FILES
Pairing: Mulder/Scully
Length: the trilogy is 205K in total
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] tesla321
Author Website: "It's Just A Cat"
Why this must be read: Because this series is one of the few Profiler!Mulder stories that doesn't portray him as going crazy when he profiles. Because Tesla believes that while Mulder may not want to admit it, he loves to profile. Because the writing is excellent, the UST is sizzling and the sex, when it happens, is both realistic and very hot. Tesla likes Mulder and Scully as a pairing best early in the show's run, when they are still young and relatively unscathed. As it happens, so do I. This story has it all: a great casefile, and a classic romance.

Man, I was beginning to worry that such fics didn't even exist. Um, THANK YOU. Who decided that "profiling = crazy" anyway? Does anyone know how profiling even works? *steps off soapbox*

Oh, well, damn. Now I definitely have to read it. ;)

Edit: I should be sleeping right now, but goddamn you, I started this one (against a heap of better judgment). I'm here:

"You make it sound like voodoo," Mulder said lightly, his eyes on the younger agents. "Profiling is just projecting a personality to fit the crime and the crime scene. It's a learned skill."

Thank you, Jesus.

Wow, I loved it. I got like, three hours of sleep last night because I had to finish it (THIS is why I never read things with more than one part), but it was worth it, thankfully. Thanks again for the rec!

It actually inspired me to update my fic favorites list (to add it, and some others). It's posted at a dummy journal now, but I had fun adding titles and pictures, lol.

Oh, you can see them here and here if you'd like; I just use that sock journal to sort of test coding and whatnot, albeit rarely. I felt redundant posting these to my LJ, since half the list had already been posted, so I just didn't bother.

Mine is still being a pain in the ass, though. Stupid server. How it's supposed to handle xf-caps.com's potential traffic is beyond me.
