Why this must be read:

If you like Gungans and feel it's unfair to have them represented primarily by JarJar, this story is for you. If you don't like Gungans, this story is probably worth reading because it treats them with respect as interesting characters, and from their own point of view. If you're a fan of JarJar, then... well, to be honest, you'll only find him here occasionally and the recognition that certain other Gungans canonically find him exasperating may put you off, but I really think you should give it a shot anyway.

The plot is interesting. The characters and cultural interactions are engrossing. The story takes place during The Phantom Menace, when Gungans who are freeing some prisoners wind up with an unexpected handful of humans. There is, as you might guess, more than a little tension, based on past history and prejudices. There's a particularly delightful development... or revelation... toward the end that I can't really hint at adequately without spoiling.

I'd love to say more, but if I really try to do the story justice, I'll never finish this post.
