Why this must be read: Crazy space incest! River and Simon as they slowly become new people in a new life. Their relationship is very well written and plausible, and even though I typically refuse to read incest fic, this one just works so well I have to bend my rule.

This time when he refuses, she asks, "What would the neighbors say?"

"That I'm a very considerate husband who doesn't make demands on his wife."

"Even when his wife wants him to?" she asks, dipping her head and looking up at him through her lashes.

"You're not my wife," he shouts.

She looks stricken, and flees on silent feet. He curses himself for a heartless húndàn and calls after her, "River, bâobèi, I'm so sorry," but she slams the door to her room and doesn't answer.

He doesn't sleep that night.
