Why this must be read:

(Hey look! Another AU!!) It's got such an inventive story-line, along with all the characters acting like themselves, and as a bonus, Polish food! Mmmm.

There was the sound of pounding feet from the hall, the door slammed open and a man ran inside, startling Ray. The man pulled himself up short when he saw Ray, squaring his shoulders and running his thumb over his eyebrow. Ray sized him up quickly. Big, but not muscle-bound. Good-looking, in a clean-cut, Arrow Shirt way. He was wearing jeans and a leather jacket, and, Ray noticed with a mental sigh, hiking boots.

"I beg your pardon," the man said, but before he could continue Ray interrupted.

"You here for the class?"

The man nodded. "I'm afraid I'm a little tardy. There was a small child with a dog who- Never mind." He blushed and closed his mouth quickly.

This was an insta-rec when I first read it back in March of '02, and it's one of the few stories I've got printed out in hard-copy. It's just that good.
