The Eighth Day by Brook Henson (R)
Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Jim/Blair, past Jim/Carolyn
Length: novel-length
Author on LJ: n/a
Author Website: Brook Henson's Site and Brook Henson's Yahoo Group (you'll have to join)
Why this must be read: Because it's the best AU fic ever!
Seriously, when I say it's the best, I really mean the BEST.
AUs are tricky business and usually I don't like them very much. It is so hard to transfer the concept of a show, its characters and the special essence - its spirit - into something different and still keep it the same.... if you know what I mean. This story does it amazingly well.
This story is well-researched, well written and oozes love for the show. The main focus are still Jim's senses and Blair as his guide. The way the author describes Jim's view of the world is fantastic. And the characters are still themselves: Jim's fierce protectiveness, Blair's urge to understand and explore.... you'll find it all.
I love this story so much that it hurts (in a really good way).

Jim is still a Sentinel, but something went terribly wrong with his senses when he was young and that event left him deaf and blind. Blair does some research about enhanced senses at the school where Jim is a teacher. They meet. It's love on first ... touch.

The story is perfect the way it is, even at the unlocked geocities site. You can read it and still be absolutely satisfied. Because to this story... there will never be an "end". Read it, you'll understand.
