*waves* Hi, I'm Erika, and I'll be your Popslash driver for September. I'm going to be giving a lot of love to the, in my opinion, more neglected band of two. Therefore, all my recs this month will be Backstreet Boys related, because they're awesome like that and need more love. Lots more love.

Why this must be read: Okay, so I'll admit I'm a wee bit partial to this fic because I was one of Nina's betas for it (not that she needs any because she's totally awesome). But even if I wasn't, I'd still be reccing it. She has this way with words and characterization that just amazes me. You can feel your heart breaking alongside Nick and AJ's as you read.
The light rapping on the door jarred him. He rose slowly and opened the door. “Hi.” His breath caught in his throat in anticipation of a response. AJ only nodded. “Do, uh- do you, um- do you wanna come in?” His heart was hammering in his chest and he rubbed his clammy hands over his pants.
“Yes," AJ breathed and Nick stepped back, letting him through and when he felt AJ’s arm brush over his chest in passing, he felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up in response. He followed AJ into the room, silence still engulfing the roof, the only sound was the pounding of the rain on the roof. The words tumbled out of his mouth so quickly, he startled himself.
“I’m sorry. God, I’m so sorry.” His voice hitched in his throat and his chest tightened at the look on AJ’s face. “I don’t know what I was thinking. I just-”
AJ held his hand up to silence him. “Don’t, Nick. Just don’t.”
