Why this must be read:
Sometimes, you get so used to reading 5 Things fics that you forget what an impact they can have. Next time that happens, read this.
julia_here has taken five things that Xander misses after Sunnydale collapses and used them to paint a portrait not only of Xander and his worldview, but of life in (and after) Sunnydale. It's lovely.
Xander had always liked hanging out in the kitchen at Revello Drive; by the time they graduated from high school he knew it better than the one at his parent’s house, and knew where all the dishes and utensils belonged. By the time Buffy’s mom died, he’d made more tea and popcorn there than he ever had in the kitchen of any place which was supposed to be his home, and had his favorite coffee cup and popcorn bowl. By the time they brought Buffy back he’d replaced the broken coffee maker, and most of the pens in the cup next to the phone were from places where he’d worked. (He still had a fancy refillable ballpoint with Joyce’s gallery name on it clipped to his shirt pocket, and used it to take notes on Giles’ calls about the location of new slayers).
Go. Read. Love. Tell the author.
