Why this must be read: If you're already a Kara/Leoben fan, then you probably don't need a lot of persuading to hit up these fics. The electrically sharp, deeply disturbing sexual tension between Starbuck and her Cylon captor/mentor speaks for itself, and [livejournal.com profile] sionnain's a great writer. Her smut is sexy and her characterizations are thoughtful. On the other hand, if you've never dipped into Kara/Leoben before, these are great fics to get you started! Set after the last S4 episode before hiatus, they show Kara's confusion, fear, and indomitable will -- and, of course, her penchant for intense and complicated sexual liaisons.

He didn't look smug. He just looked intense, serious, much the same as he always looked. He pulled her closer, and she closed her eyes, waiting. She thought it would play out between them like it had in her dream; he'd shove her against a wall and they'd go at it fast, just the way she liked it, and there was some relief in knowing this strange tension between them would finally be sated.

When he didn't do anything, she opened her eyes and glared up at him. “Leoben.”

“Kara,” he responded, and lifted one hand. He touched it lightly to her cheek and she flinched and turned her head away. She wasn't expecting anything gentle. It wasn't what she wanted, either, and certainly not from him.

“Are you going to get on with it? I do have to report for duty in the morning,” she snapped, tense. His touch was strange, familiar and yet not. As always, she was both drawn to him and yet strangely repelled, and her muscles were tense as if she were about to turn and run.

His fingers went under her chin and he gently moved her face towards his. “Open your eyes,” he said, and there was a catch in his voice, some low huskiness she'd not heard from him outside of dreams.

Kara did so, and then she was suddenly frightened—she saw him and she thought now of being captive and held against her will, of the terrifying ordeal he'd put her through for months, of killing him over and over again just to watch him come back hours later with that same patient voice, that same benign smile--

Kara scrambled away, moving until her she felt her back hit the wall. He followed her, and she didn't want him to, but she didn't want him not to, precisely, and they were standing face-to-face, too close. He sighed, and she could feel his breath against her skin.

“You're still afraid of me. Kara.” Leoben reached out and traced his fingers over neck, the caress deliberate. He smiled at her. “I know you are. It's all right.”

“Stop--” she said, but bit her lip, because she didn't really want him to stop.

“I'm not going to hurt you. I love you. You know that.” He leaned closer and exerted the smallest bit of pressure with his fingers, turning her head to the side. His mouth touched her neck and she gave an involuntary gasp, and then she realized it wasn't a kiss as much as he was simply breathing against her skin. His hands captured her wrists and he put her arms above her head, and once again, he had her trapped.
