Why this must be read:

There are times when fanfic expands on canon and times when it goes forth and fixes something. This excellent story does both things, looking at Jim's relationship with his former partner, Jack, and dealing with issues that came out of the episode 'Deep Water'. It's a Caro Dee story, which means that sexual threads are worked together to make a fascinating picture that's about far more than just sex.

Too right! I don't believe I've ever read a story about Jack, and his canon appearance is only a few brief flashbacks. How Caro was able to produce an authentic Jack voice, as well as fill in the blanks where you think "huh?" as you watch the ep, is a testament to her skill.
